SIDA-ENTREPRISES provides continuous technical support to member enterprises in Africa

Missions for providing technical support
Field missions, prepared well in advance by people in charge of programmes for fighting HIV at headquarters of member enterprises aim at helping subsidiaries in preparing the state of play of programmes, in analyzing successes and bottlenecks… After each field mission carried-out by SIDA-ENTREPRISES, each subsidiary obtains a report with advice on methodology, with recommendations on actions to be carried-out and/or on building partnerships, with a calendar for implementation…

Workshops
Workshops are organised for programme coordinators (also called "focal points") in order to provide knowledge and tools which will enable them to implement the programme for fighting HIV within enterprises.

On June 27th 2007 in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), 50 coordinators discussed about 3 themes among the following within 4 working-groups: the policy of the enterprise and the AIDS committee within the enterprise, partnership with an association, Peer Educators, screening, confidentiality, implementation tools, sensitisation, the distribution of condoms within the enterprise, discrimination linked to HIV-AIDS, the sustainability of programmes, programme monitoring, coalitions of enterprises. Each workshop was run by an expert in each field: people in charge of associations, doctors, people living with HIV.

On October 17th in 2008 in Antananarivo (Madagascar), 70 coordinators were divided into 4 groups and worked on the following themes:
Group A: What is the role played by a Peer Educator?
Group B: The keys for success in a programme for fighting STIs including HIV-AIDS within an enterprise ?
Group C: What type of collaboration should there be between enterprises and associations?
Group D: What type of collaboration should there be between enterprises and Medical Departments of enterprises, namely HIV screening?

Development of actions carried-out
On December 1st 2008, World AIDS Day, SIDA-ENTREPRISES launched a competition to elect the best action organised in the framework of programmes for fighting HIV. 21 subsidiaries of 6 groups located in 14 countries participated: 76 submissions were assessed.

The winner is Société Générale de Banques en Côte d’Ivoire which presented an action on the theme « Promotion and organisation of AIDS tests ». The prize is a "Knowledge, Attitude and Practices » study which will be carried-out during the first semester of 2009 among employees of SGBCI in Abidjan in order to measure their knowledge about STIs and the HIV-AIDS infection, their attitude (towards infected people, towards screening…) and their practices (use of a condom…). The results of the study will obviously be a precious tool to direct actions to be carried-out. The 2nd prize is awarded to CFAO Togo which presented an action on the theme « Activities for sensitising families ». The prize will be a mission to provide support to the Director for development of SIDA-ENTREPRISES in Lomé in 2009.  The 3rd prize was awarded to Imprimerie Industrielle Ivoirienne which presented an action on the theme « Promotion and organisation of AIDS tests ». The prize will be a training session for  the committee and for peer educators.

The best proposals are available in the section reserved to members.
