Methodology used for setting-up a programme for fighting HIV-AIDS in your enterprise
Introduction
When someone raises the question « How do we launch a programme or activities?», we immediately think of tools: a policy, a charter, a roadmap, a scoreboard, reporting tools… which are all useful for implementing a programme for fighting HIV-AIDS in the workplace. However, before any decision is taken on the field, it is important to ask the right questions and to try to adapt the answer to actual needs. This simply means that the proper methodology is to be used: it is vital to know what is the current situation and what is the ultimate goal!
Implementing a policy for fighting HIV-AIDS indeed starts with the commitment of the Management (Charter), as it is a sine qua none.
The next step is to create a committee within the enterprise in order to develop the policy’s operational plan. Traditionally, it includes the Director General, the Director of Human Resources, the medical staff, staff representatives and any other charismatic and motivated person.
Translating the overall objectives of the programme for fighting AIDS within the enterprise means : reducing the impact of HIV (morbidity, mortality) on employees and their families,
The specific objectives which respond to the needs of the enterprise are not easy to determine if we do not take the time to carry-out an evaluation.
