SIDA-ENTREPRISES operates in the field of HIV-AIDS in France, where the headquarters are located, but activities are mainly carried-out in Africa. The activities include technical support, support for training and advocacy.
Relations between headquarters of member companies, their subsidiaries in Africa and SIDA-ENTREPRISES
There is a "SIDA-ENTREPRISES focal point" within the headquarters of each member enterprise. The focal points are in charge of programmes for fighting HIV-AIDS for their respective groups. In most cases, this person is the Director for Social Responsibility or for Sustainable Development.
These "SIDA-ENTREPRISES" focal points relay the information between subsidiaries and the association as each enterprise controls its own programme.
SIDA-ENTREPRISES develops proposals and makes recommendations but these are not mandatory for members.
Relations between institutions within African countries and SIDA-ENTREPRISES
During each country mission, the SIDA-ENTREPRISES employees create links with the National Aids Council (NAC).
SIDA-ENTREPRISES recommends member subsidiaries to become members of national coalitions of countries where they are located (Cf. under the "Situation per country" heading) or to unite in order to share experiences when there is no coalition in order to mobilise efforts.
SIDA-ENTREPRISES recommends its subsidiaries to become part of the national coordination system and to provide the results of programmes implemented.
A SIDA-ENTREPRISES country programme entails including the project as a priority area within the national strategic framework. Moreover, local partners selected for the project send regular progress reports on the implementation of the project to the NAC.
Relations between international organisations, associations and SIDA-ENTREPRISES
SIDA-ENTREPRISES acknowledges the importance of international organisations (ILO, WHO) and of associations in Africa.
SIDA-ENTREPRISES uses and disseminates the ILO code of practices for HIV/AIDS.
NGOs and associations are essential partners of subsidiaries of member enterprises in the fields of sensitisation, training, screening and in all aspects of health-care.
If partnerships may be built, SIDA-ENTREPRISES does not however have the mandate to be a donor for NGOs and associations.
